Habitat Grosse Pointe Partners is an ecumenical partnership of Grosse Pointe churches dedicated to supporting the work of Habitat for Humanity. The mission of the Habitat Grosse Pointe Partners organization is to assist low income housing organizations accomplish their goals of rebuilding Michigan communities one house and one family at a time.
The GP Partners help to secure funding for new, and existing house projects, provide muscle and brains to work the homebuilding job sites, and plan activities to welcome the new homeowners to their dwelling. We uphold the mission of Habitat for Humanity Detroit:
“Habitat for Humanity Detroit, in partnership with God and families in need of adequate housing, brings together people from all walks of life to revitalize Detroit neighborhoods through the construction of decent affordable homes.”
Volunteering is fun!
Nowhere in the United States can a minimum-wage worker afford a two-bedroom apartment at Fair Market Rent, based on the generally accepted affordability standard of paying no more than 30% of income for housing. To afford FMR on a two-bedroom housing unit, one would have to earn $14.44 per hour in Detroit.
